VISUAL ARTS WORKSHOP - LEROY COOPER

Blackfest 2022 exhibition is proud to present the photography of Leroy Cooper, an acclaimed & celebrated artist from Britain’s oldest established Black and Diverse Community of Liverpool, Toxteth. A study of what it means to be Black & British in a city whose history includes, its heavy involvement in the transatlantic slavery trade that has left institutional racism buried in the essence of the city and how the mixed racial heritage of Toxteth has challenged the bigotry and prejudice to not only survive against all the odds but thrived to become a shining beacon for racial & cultural harmony. Our culture is built on fierce resistance to hatred and bigotry, we believe in standing up for equality & justice for all.

’I am so incredibly inspired by the programme, music, dance and the community projects im so proud to be a part of this’
